The American Heart Association and chairmen Debbie and Jack B. Moore welcomed 700 Houstonians consisting of community members, medical professionals and corporate leaders to the 36th annual Houston Heart Ball on February 16, 2019.
Held at the Hilton Americas-Houston, the magical evening themed “Imagine with Heart” celebrated the arts, culture and philanthropic spirit of Houston. The medical honoree was David E. Persse, MD, and the community honorees were Arvia and Jason Few. The soiree was focused on children with congenital heart defects, which was highlighted in this year’s survivor video that honored the Cager family and filled guests with hope.
Guests delighted in a gourmet dinner, cocktails and luxury live and silent auctions featuring unique packages including a four-day trip to New York City to experience Hamilton on Broadway; an exclusive dinner deemed the Diamond Dinner by presenting sponsor Tenenbaum Jewelers; a beautiful Oscar de la Renta shoulder bag donated by the designer; and floor seats at a Houston Rockets game. Entertainment by Georgia Bridgwater Orchestra kept partygoers on their feet as they danced the night away.
The unforgettable evening raised $2.3 million to fund American Heart Association’s research and education programs that will change communities and ultimately save lives from heart disease and stroke.
