ASCF Hosts Illuminating Evening Raising $500,000 [Event Coverage]

With event chairs Stephanie and Ernie Cockrell and Christine and Ty Hoffer at the helm, 2016 proved to be a powerful year for Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation (ASCF) raising approximately $500,000.

Nearly 400 philanthropic Houstonians attended the heart-felt event at The Astorian on November 3, 2016. Many guests were outfitted in Brandon Maxwell designs to ensure the native Texan turned international designer felt at home. Stephanie Cockrell, Greggory Burk, Fatema Naqvi and Brandon Maxwell COO Lauren Leonard Phelps were among the many women wearing the designer but perhaps no one wore it as beautifully as sarcoma survivor and ASCF board member Alexandra Knight who joined KHOU’s Deborah Duncan in welcoming the party.

Champagne & Diamonds Sponsor Tenenbaum Jewelers with Tony Bradfield, Kevin Black and Christina Stith had event chairs Stephanie and Christine, as well as ASCF founder Missy, dripping in diamonds for the occasion.

The evening focused on the importance of the foundation and shared the incredible story of Celebration of Survivorship honoree Alia Rdissi. Vinod Ravi, M.D. was presented with the Commitment to Care Award and Lisa Wang, M.D. was the recipient of the Commitment to the Cause Award.

In addition, guests enjoyed a live auction with items such as Tenenbaum jewels and a trip to Cabo; a fashion show hosted by Saks Fifth Avenue featuring Brandon Maxwell’s tailored designs; and ASCF’s illuminating annual sarcoma survivor strut featuring more survivors than ever on the catwalk.
