Children’s Museum of Houston’s Whimsical Gala Raises Nearly $1 Million [Event Coverage]

The Children’s Museum of Houston’s Mad Hatter’s Ball raised a humongous $955,000 on October 15, 2016 at The Corinthian. Event chairs Elva and Truett Akin and Monica and Greg Meeks played host to the Alice in Wonderland-themed evening benefiting the Museum’s educational and outreach programs. Underwriting was co-chaired by Caroline and John Harrell and Lyndsey and Bret Zorich.

More than 500 guests—most sashaying exuberant hats—walked through the looking glass and were hurled into a wonderland enthralled by Rebekah Johnson’s (of Bergner & Johnson) vision of an outrageous “tea party” complete with floating playing cards, rampant vines and dazzling chandeliers.

Guests rejoiced in the likes of Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts while the tunes of Skyrocket! (presented by J&D Entertainment) flung everyone onto the chess-inspired dance floor.

Guests noshed on a feast of delicacies from Jackson and Company’s multi-course menu and enjoyed live and silent auctions featuring marvelous items like a Ballon Bleu de Cartier watch, 36mm made possible by Deutsch & Deutsch Jewelers, tickets to the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards, and an Astros First Pitch Experience with Diamond Level tickets.
