A throng of over 300 guests congregated at River Oaks Country Club to support the Huffington Center on Aging at Baylor College of Medicine on October 28, 2015 for their Women’s Health Summit and Luncheon chaired by Alissa Maples and Virginia Steppe.
Ilona Carson with Channel 13 KTRK emceed the luncheon and Tom Koch emceed the educational portion of the event, which featured notable speakers, Doris Taylor and Nick Buettner, who shared their knowledge on stem cells and secrets to a long life.
Leeza Gibbons, TV and radio host, Emmy Award winner, New York Times bestselling author, philanthropist and caregiver advocate, was the keynote speaker and award recipient for the Anne Morrow Lindbergh Award for Living with Grace and Distinction. Judi McGee, Fran Peterson, Susan Plank and Anne Carl were also honored for their contributions to the community.
Honorary chairperson, Terry Huffington, and Huffington Center director, Hui Zheng, applauded the day’s efforts grossing over $230,000 to support Huffington Center whose mission is to improve the quality of lives of people as they age through vital programs of research, education and patient care.
