Event Spotlight } Think Pink Suits for Shelters Launch Party

Hosts Maleiah and Ryan Rogers welcomed nearly 200 attendees for the “Think Pink Launch Party” presented by Mary Kay Inc., The Mary Kay Foundation and Tootsies Plaza at Preston Center, which kicked off the seventh annual Suits for Shelters program.

Attendees arrived in “pink-inspired” attire with new and gently used women’s professional attire, shoes and accessories for local domestic violence shelters. Party goers sipped on “Think Pink Lemonade,” courtesy of Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Lakewood Brewery’s Rock Ryder Wheat and Lakewood Lager, and indulged in an array of savory bites from Ford’s Kitchen Catering.

Midway through the evening, the crowd moved upstairs for special announcements and the much-anticipated “Think Pink” fashion show. Emcee WFAA-TV’s Cynthia Izaguirre introduced the first scene, “Think Pink,” which featured pink-inspired summer fashions modeled by representatives from Mary Kay and program beneficiaries, including Attitudes and Attire, The Battered Women’s Foundation, Brighter Tomorrows, Denton County Friends of the Family, Dress for Success, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Hope’s Door, Mosaic Family Services, New Beginning Center, The Family Place, Safe Haven of Tarrant County and The Salvation Army.

Following the fashion show, raffle prizes were announced, which included a Mary Kay gift basket with a $100 Tootsies gift card, a Mary Kay gift basket with a $500 Tootsies gift card and a grand prize with the winner getting to select a women’s organization in Dallas to receive a $5,000 donation. Joe Fox was the lucky grand prize winner and chose New Beginning Center as the beneficiary of the $5,000 donation, much to the delight of executive director Cindy Turek.

Each guest was gifted a full-size men’s cologne and organza bag with Mary Kay mascara, lip liner, lip stick, mini satin hand lotion and compact mirror with a Don’t Look Away card including 10 warning signs of an abusive relationship and the Mary Kay sponsored loveisrespect text-for-help helpline information. Tootsies generously rewarded each donor with a $25 gift card as a thank you.
