Wearable technology will continue as the No. 1 fitness trend, according to the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) annual survey of health and fitness professionals worldwide.
The results were released in the article “Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends for 2017” published in ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal.
Rounding out the top 10 are the following:
- Bodyweight training
- High-intensity interval training
- Educated and experienced fitness professionals
- Strength training
- Group training
- Exercise is medicine (a new survey option that encourages health care providers to include physical activity in treatment plans and refer patients to qualified exercise professionals)
- Yoga
- Personal training
- Exercise and weight loss
