In for the Farmer’s Haul at Emmer & Rye

If you like small, tapas-style sharing plates with on-site grown vegetables, heirloom grains and local whole-animal cuts, Emmer & Rye is right up your alley (actually, it is on the ground level of the SkyHouse complex).

Kevin Stewart designed the pretty space, which includes bar seating, a patio and a contemporary dining room made homey-cool with shelves of cookbooks, vintage glass bottles of dried spices and a copper collection.

Owner-chef Kevin Fink, formerly with The French Laundry in Napa, Noma in Copenhagen and most recently Olamaie in Austin, dishes out an ever-changing American menu featuring local flavors in a playful style.

Homemade pasta, breads, fresh empanadas, nightly not-so-Asian dim sum specials and weekend brunch headline the menu. We’ll be back for the lamb tartare, fresh and fermented mushroom polenta with mint marigold, and the Emmer brioche oozing with Gruyère.
