Not Eating Your Veggies? It Might Be Due to This

If you struggle with eating vegetables, maybe it’s because they lack sex appeal.

Stanford researchers studied the health habits of diners in university cafeterias and discovered that sexiness sells, particularly in the case of veggies.

A multitude of vegetable descriptions were used for the same dish, such as twisted garlic-ginger butternut squash wedges (indulgent descriptor), butternut squash (basic), butternut squash with no added sugar (healthy restrictive descriptor) and antioxidant-rich butternut squash (healthy positive descriptor).

Forty-one percent of diners chose the sexier indulgent description over the healthy restrictive label, leading researchers to suggest the sexier the description the more likely the food will be consumed.
