Pratham Houston president, Ash Shah, and vice president, Asha Dhume, welcomed a crowd of devoted guests to celebrate the organization’s upcoming gala and the cause of spreading literacy to millions of underprivileged children in India and worldwide.
Supporters and media personalities gathered in the sparkling lobby of the 1915 Texaco building—newly rechristened as The Star luxury apartments—as they buzzed with excitement over the gala’s special guest, Sushmita Sen, famed Indian actress, model and former Miss Universe.
Guests had the opportunity to tour the property, originally designed by the same architectural firm responsible for Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal, while enjoying scrumptious bites by Brasserie Du Parc paired with bountiful sips from Revana Family Vineyard.
Dr. Madaiah Revana, a practicing cardiologist who followed his passion to open the St. Helena, CA vineyard in 1997, gave a moving speech detailing his childhood in a home without running water and the importance of supporting a nonprofit that provides education for those living in poverty.
The 2017 gala will be held on April 1. For more information on the event, please visit here.
