’Twas another hugely successful year for the Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market with more than 104,600 shoppers in attendance and merchandise sales exceeding $19 million. Chaired by longtime volunteer Myrna Fisch, this year’s Market was themed Rockin’ and Shoppin’ as an ode to the 1950s.
The 37th annual holiday shopping extravaganza featured a series of special events including the Wells Fargo Preview Party, the Saks Fifth Avenue Fashion Show and Luncheon, and the Macy’s Fashion Show and Luncheon. This year’s Market welcomed 280 merchants from across the U.S., with 53 merchants making their big debut. New merchants included Wreaths by Mary, Two Tequila Sisters, Doggie Express, Eat Drink Host and more.
Shoppers donning matching holiday-themed outfits enjoyed food and drinks—including the Market’s signature mimosa—as they perused the over 540,000 square feet of holiday décor, gourmet food, toys, apparel, novelty items, accessories, gifts and more.
A total of $4.9 million was raised for the Houston Ballet Foundation, its Academy and Scholarship programs, bringing the grand total to more than $63 million in the Nutcracker Market’s 37-year history.
