“Secret Garden” Heart Ball Celebrates Second Chances and Raises $2.2 Million [Event Coverage]

Houston’s best dressed and most generous turned heads at the American Heart Association’s “Secret Garden” themed Heart Ball presented by the Texas Medical Center (TMC).

Emceed by Chita Craft, the annual black-tie fundraising dinner celebrated hearts and second chances under the leadership of TMC’s president and CEO and 2017 Houston Heart Ball chair, Dr. Robert C. Robbins.

Timothy Singletary and Joanne Houck captivated the hearts of over 600 guests as they shared their story of a second chance at life, a second chance of love and a second chance together. The happily wedded couple credits their love story to the research and efforts of the American Heart Association.

Guests were treated to a spectacular evening as they stepped into a tucked-away, French-inspired garden complete with ivy trimmings, living human trees and aerialists.

There was no shortage of surprises throughout the night, with the raffle of a brand new 2017 BMW 530i perhaps being the biggest. The winning name was pulled by Cathy and Joe Cleary, who were announced as the incoming 2018 Houston Heart Ball chairs.

Early reports show $2.2 million was raised.
