The Surprising Benefits of Grapes

Most of us have heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” but what about the benefits of grapes? A recent research study published in the “Journal of Nature Communications” asserts that grapes can help to build a degree of resilience against depression.

The researchers have found that including grapes in one’s diet can have a positive impact on mental health and may even help to decrease depression by focusing on newly discovered underlying mechanisms of the disorder.

The grapes that come from the compound dihydrocaffeic acid (DHCA) and malvidin-3-O-glucoside (Mal-gluc) were found to promote resilience in mouse models of depression by modulating plasticity and inflammation.
