Trees of Hope Holiday Gala Breaks Organizational Record [Event Coverage]

Just in time for the holiday season, Trees of Hope hosted their Holiday Gala at the beautiful Citadel on Kirby for more than 350 patrons on November 4, 2016.

Along with honorary chair Lynn Wyatt, gala co-chairs Donna Grehn and Sharon Schwartz planned an unforgettable evening in celebration of Trees of Hope’s 27th year of improving the lives of homeless children at Star of Hope, one of Houston’s largest agencies for the homeless.

Star of Hope president and CEO, Hank Rush, opened the program with a beautiful invocation, followed by Trees of Hope president, Laura Jones, who recognized the night’s honorees, Lisa and John Stoika. The most stirring moment of the evening came when Lawrence Scott, lead pastor of Harvest Point Fellowship Church and former child resident of Star of Hope, told his own family’s story of transformation.

Trees of Hope also had the honor and privilege of partnering with Heart of Fashion and Vivian Wise, who generously donated a tree created by renowned designer, Billy Milner.

The black-tie evening featured music by the well-known David Caceres Band and an exciting auction that broke an organizational record, raising nearly $100,000 in paddles-up donations alone. Over $600,000 was raised for the children’s programs at Star of Hope.
